I'm in Mosaic Box heaven...

Well, I've been really busy the last couple of days, finishing some more mosaic boxes with inspirational "sayings." They are selling really well, so I might be busier than I thought this summer. (Bailey is not. He was so spooked when he went outside this morning--for unknown reasons--that he sat in the same spot for a good 45 minutes. Not that sitting (or lying) in the same spot for hours is unusual behavior for him.) The boxes are one of a kind, and lots of fun! Here are two that sold last Friday.

Keep on creating!

THE BIRD OF FREEDOM....

THE BIRD OF FREEDOM was my take on this picture of a happy bird just doing its thing. I wondered always what it would be like, flying, but I'm afraid of heights.... I always choose the aisle seat on airplanes, though I'm not afraid of flying in the megaton tube per se. It's a miracle how that mass of metal flies anyway... A bird is grace personified.

This painting inspired the big one in the previous post. I wondered what it would look like BIGGER.

My friend Dana said it reminded her of Mexican folk art, and quilt art. Actually, it would lend itself well to a quilt, but that's too much work. And besides, I can't sew as well as I paint, straight lines and all that. Not that this painting has any straight lines except the edges. Lines are there to be painted over or beyond. There is a very good book on how to paint beyond the lines titled Painting From the Source, by Aviva Gold. If you're stuck as an artist, please get that book and work with it. It will bust loose your creative dam for sure! Happy creating,

TA-DAH!

Ta-dah, my finished painting! I haven't found the title yet, but it'll come to me. This is available for sale at http://www.mariagreene.etsy.com/
There's other stuff for sale as well. I have been a very busy bee (Bailey has not...)

MORE PICTURES...

Some more pictures on my work in progress...

MY MESSY STUDIO...

My messy studio... this is only part of it. The other side is messier, but there is organization in the mess. I pretty much know where everything is. Here's a work in progress, a large 24x36" acrylic painting that I was working on when I took the picture. It's finished, nameless, and somehow reminds me of some sort of ethnic style, but I don't know which. Do you?

I'M B-A-A-C-K....

I'm b-a-a-a-ck! Went on vacation for a couple of weeks, and I didn't remember to bring my sketch pad, but I came back inspired and ready to PAINT. I ran out of boxes to embellish with polymer clay, so I had to dust off one of my canvases and go at it. Came to discover that I have a different style all of a sudden. Well, the contents is different, and I'm excited about it. Don't have a picture today as my camera battery was low this morning and I was running out of time. I'm working on a huge canvas now 24x36, and I've been using lots of pattern in my art lately. It's hard to describe without a picture. Tomorrow, maybe? It could be the progress of a the Great Masterpiece.... Bailey yawned: yeah, right... but what does he know, he who sleeps 20 hours a day (if allowed.) I like the art of the Australian Aborigines a lot, and I thought the patterns reminded me somewhat of that art.

I went to Sweden on vacation, and nature over there is beautiful in the summer. The sun got up at about 3:30 in the morning, right in my face. Should've brought one of those eye masks... The closest I got to art was my brother's art studio. He does HUGE mixed media pieces, and I like them very much. I have to look for some pictures to post here.
Until next time, keep creating, ya hear!
